Graphic Design Experience
Understanding the abstract nature of visual communication is the first set to being a good visual storyteller. Whether it comes to shape, color, font, or motion, all of the base elements and principles of art can communicate abstractly before representation. I find marketing and advertising history’s use of this to be very interesting and have studied how graphic design is used both in and out of marketing, and how I can take advantage of graphic design to tell my own or others’ stories. I enjoy the experimentation and idea creation that comes with graphic design and the process, both traditional and on the computer with Adobe Creative Suites. Throughout the time I’ve been studying for my BFA at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago I have taken courses such as Introduction to Visual Communication, Beginning Typography, Graphic Design-Illustration Technology Lab, Graphic Design-Type Technology Lab, Offset Production-Risograph & Offset Printing, Art History-American Design Culture in the 20th Century, Art History-History of Modern Graphic Design. I know how to Risograph print and use Adobe Creative Suite.
